From the ‘Pay & Display’ car park the walk climbs out of Castleton, passing Peak, Treak Cliff and Blue John Caverns, onto Rushup Edge and its highest point Lord’s Seat. It then descends along the ridge and quiet lanes before the next climb among rocky outcrops up the flanks of Eldon hill. Finally there is a descent back into Castleton.

Start from free car park just below the White House PH.
From the White House, the route is downhill to Castle Clough and Lower Chelburn Reservoir, for the only ascent of the day to the Pennine Way at Utley Edge.
From there, the route is to the East of Warland Reservoir, and then, taking the Reservoir Circuit around Whiteholme Reservoir.
Finally the Pennine Way is taken back to the start.

The walk starts from a small lay-by just before the turning off the A56 for the Tempest Arms PH at Elslack.
The route heads to the 17th century Broughton Hall and, after walking through the estate grounds, the village of Carleton-in-Craven is reached.

Then follows a steep climb passing Carleton Park shooting lodge where, according to their website, guns are hung on pegs during lunch (we won’t hang about here!).

The ascent continues to reach the ridge called Calvert Road with fine views (hopefully) across Airedale. After visiting Elslack Reservoir, arguably one of the most picturesque in the Dales, it’s more or less downhill all the way back to the start.

Meet at Bury Interchange for first tram after 9.30am or meet at Prestwich Metrolink Station at 9.40am – grid ref SD814041. Bus back to Bury from Breightmet at end of walk

The walk, which starts from Prestwich Metrolink Station at about 9.40am (from Bury take the first Metrolink tram after 9.30am), is part of the 14 mile Kingfisher Trail. An outline of the route is: Prestwich – Philips Park – Clifton Country Park – Ringley Bridge – Moses Gate Country Park – Darcy Lever – Leverhulme Park. The walk is on good paths and there are few stiles. It finishes at Breightmet from where the bus back to Bury may be taken.

The walk starts from Austwick on Graystober Lane. It goes through the village and on to Norber. The route then continues to Long Scar and Nick Pot. From there it proceeds by way of Moughton Scars (or Sulber Nick) to Wharfe. Finally the route back to Austwick is via Feizor.

The walk starts from a side-road off Crompton Way, signposted ‘Benteler Distribution’, about 100 metres from the Toby Carvery (ex–Watermillock) and on the same side of the road.

It is a walk through Bolton’s industrial heritage taking in Samuel Crompton’s birthplace, Tonge Cemetery [Grade 2 listed], Hall i’th Wood etc. and has a charm of its own. It mainly follows Eagley Brook and Bradshaw Brook.
