Bury Group Walk to Celebrate the Installation of Redisher Wood Steps
On 24th September 2023 Bury Ramblers organized a guided walk to celebrate the installation of Redisher Wood Steps, which were a joint project funded by Ramblers, LDWA (Long Distance Walkers Association) and Bury Council, and also to promote a section of the new GM Ringway Trail (a 186 mile circular trail around Manchester). 14 walkers completed the walk which included members of Bury, Rochdale, Coach Rambles and Manchester and Salford groups together with members from LDWA. They were joined at the top of the steps by Margaret and Alan Manning (The Chair and The Walking Environment Officer of Ramblers Greater Manchester and High Peak Area) for photos before descending the steps to a new footbridge across a stream. The group then continued to the end of the walk in Ramsbottom.
