On a sunny spring morning 16 walkers started out on a 10 mile circuit visiting three of Rossendale's most attractive valleys - Alden, Musbury and Grane with great views of Musbury Tor. From near Helmshore Textile Museum the route went along the disused Ramsbottom to Accrington railway line, now Sustran's route 6, and on through Snig Hole to Raven Shore. The group then climbed to Great House Farm and Tor End then on along Musbury Brook to Rushy Leach and the Chimney at Musbury Heights Quarry. Due to unforseen circumstances the excursion to Hog Lowe Pike had to be omitted and the group returned early back to Helmshore where some of the group went to The Robin Hood pub for drinks.
