Jean Royle led a group of 8 on a circular walk starting from the village of Strines near Marple. The route went past The Roman Lakes Leisure Park to the ruins of Samuel Oldknow's Mill (The largest single cotton factory in the world when built in 1793) for the morning break. After the break the walk continued along The Macclesfield Canal, then across Marple Golf Course followed by a stretch on The Middlewood Way before crossing Disley Golf Course and along a section of The Peak Forest Canal before returning to Strines.
